We had some fun on Saturday night at Jessica's hens party.

First stop was Surry Hills for some pole dancing fun! While we started off a little timid at first, it didn't take a long to get into the swing of things. Kate and Anne were naturals!

That night we went out to Tharen's, which is a hat restaurant in Kings Cross. Dancing on the chairs rounded out a fun day.

One thing about going to the Hunter Valley for a wedding is the fabulous wine that is served. I'm not a champagne drinker, but this drop was delicious!

Another wedding this weekend! Sam and Inessa were married on 21 September up in the Hunter Valley.

It was a lovely sunny day which was good, considering the rain on Saturday.

Congrats guys, so happy for you both and Ness, you looked fantasic!

Turning 30

Lyndal and Michelle turned 30 on the 23rd June and they celebrated last Saturday night with a soiree.

I stuck to my four white wine rule, then switched and had two vodkas, and I felt pretty good on Sunday!

Okay, I had a slight headache, but I wasn't sick at least...

Well, another couple bites the dust!

Mark and Fiona were married on Saturday in a lovely ceremony at St Joseph's in Edgecliff. Luckily the weather cleared that afternoon and they had blue skies.

So I signed up for a 12 month membership at a gym today. I have finally taken the plunge.

With less than 6 months left until the wedding, it's time to get serious!

Saw an interesting film on Sunday afternoon with the girls. It was a Swedish movie called "As it is in Heaven".

It was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 2005, so it's a few years old.

We went to the Roseville cinema on a Sunday afternoon. Full of oldies, but at least they don't chat during the film!

Has anyone seen it? It was about a musician retiring and going back to his small home town in Sweden. Good stuff.

It was pretty funny. Oh, how we laughed and laughed. Not sure it was meant to be funny, but it was.

I have been asked to be a bridesmaid for an upcoming wedding! How exciting!

I am mainly excited because I have never actually been a bridesmaid before. And, if I didn't get to do it soon, I would have become a matron rather than a maid (because a married person is no longer considered a maid).

Anyway, I scrap in 5 weeks before my own wedding. Phew!

Please note, this may or may not be my BM dress. You'll have to wait and see!

San Francisco and New York holiday

So, I am back from my holiday to San Francisco and New York City!

Man, what a fun time!

Hightlights:
*Staying in Felicity's apartment for 5 days in New York. It was close to everything and made me feel like I actually lived there! And she even moved out so we had it all to ourselves!
*The view from Empire State Building. So many buildings in such a small space, it was great to see it from so far up.
*Seeing Les Miserables, my favourite muscial, on Broadway. Mick lined up at half-tix and we got A reserve seats for half price!
*Seeing a baseball game in San Francisco. It went to the 12th innings, and the SF Giants won 6-5 in the end!
*Eating, from the hot dogs to the three course meals, all the food was great.
*Shopping on 5th Ave and Madison. Wow, I went nuts! Jimmy Choo's, Manolo's, Coach and Kate Spade. My credit card bill is not going to be pretty!

If you haven't been to New York City, definitely go! It was truly awesome. Click the photo to see more of our holiday pictures.

I caught the bouquet!

So it came to bouquet throwing time, and I was standing at the back of all the girls wondering what I should do. I'm not single, but I'm not married...

Erring on the side of caution, I figure I should NOT participate, so I moved further to the back and to the side. You can see in the picture I am almost out the door (that's me in purple dress, holding bouquet).

Emelie then throws the bouquet, where it proceeds to pass through six pairs of hands and literally heads straight for me. What should I have done? Dodged it? Dropped it? It's a natural reflex to catch it of course, which I did. Very funny.

Obviously there was a rethrow.

It reminds me of that episode of Sex and the City when the four girls are at a wedding and the bride throws the bouquet. It comes straight for them but they just stand there and let it drop to their feet. So funny.

Anyway, it was the first time I have ever caught it. Funnily enough, out of all the girls there, I guess I will be the next to marry! I guess the theory is true!

Well, another wedding for Mick and me this month. Emelie and Derek were married on Saturday, 31 March, up at Lake Macquarie.

Many of the guests stayed the weekend at Rafferty's Resort which was lovely. It was nice to get a final swim in at the beach too, though the big waves were a little scary.

I think the most fun part was the dancing. The band was great and it was nice to see all the guys and gals dancing away. Mick and I did some much needed practicing. We are slightly nervous about our own wedding dance, but we have two more weddings between now and then to practice some more!

Book club

So I am in a book club with some girlfriends.

It's so much fun. It started because a few of us were lamenting how we don't read enough anymore, so we thought, why not start a club as it will give us an incentive to read more? And so far, it is working!

Our next book is The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini. We are meeting up in 5 weeks for animated discussion (as well as drinks and dinner and talk about boys and shoes).

Anyone else in a book club? And suggestions for good 'book club' books to read would be appreciated.
