Just watched Australia lose 1-3 against Iraq in the Asian Cup football / soccer match.
Australia played better than against Oman but were still terrible in defense. We just didn't mark up at all. Opposition players were roaming around freely again. Vince Grella just let his man go to give away the first goal. After that we got one back from Golden Boy Tim Cahill but then we got well beaten again by the Iraq attack. It looked like we only had 2 guys back.
Then we put on more attackers....
So Iraq score again.
Really sloppy defending. Coach Arnold is clearly not up to the task.
To make the next round of the Asian Cup Final after starting as favourites, Australia has to beat Thailand who beat Oman and are considered by some to be better than Iraq.
Full credit to Iraq who played with intensity and control the whole game. Australia only seemed to pick up the pace when were down 2-1.
I was really disappointed with our performance.
Oh, and Lucas Neill Nice Guy got a red card for dissent after a prior yellow. So less defenders for the next game. Nice.
:-(
