Australia Day

Australia Day rocks.

I know some people call it Invasion Day because that is when Australia was invade by England, but that is in the past and you can't change it. Let's move on and celebrate something as a whole.

There are so many ways to spend Australia day.
* At the beach.
* In the backyard.
* On a verandah or balcony.
* On the harbour.
* On a boat.
* In a cafe.
* On a rooftop.
* In the park.
* In bed...

or;
* With family.
* With Friends.
* With Strangers.
* With your lover....

Yep, Australia Day rocks.

I went on a ferry, went walking, had brekkie, ate corn, looked at cars, had ice cream, went swimming, had dinner (with dessert) and it was great.

Poetry Makes Comeback?

Last night I went to see the Def Poetry Jam as a part of the Sydney Festival at the Metro Theatre. I didn't really know what to expect, other than some modern, hip-hop flavoured entertainment. I was blown away and very emotionally moved.

Basically, there was 7 people from USA who came on at various times and used poetry or spoken word (talking prose) to tell a story or make a point.

It was funny, inspiring, interesting, sad, and confrontational. There were stories about being single, being in love, war, September 11, Krispy Kreme Donuts...

It was great and I highly recommend it.

I wonder from this whether poetry can make a come back. I know hip-hop is a form of poetry, but maybe even the old style, get up in the café and recite something you've written has a chance. I think I'd like to have a go.

Jazz, When I don't want to listen but I want to be happy, Rock, When I want to listen and I want to be angry, Classical, When I'm reading and want to be at peace, Oldies, When I want to sing along and know the words, Folk, When I want to tap my feet and think of the lyrics, Pop, When I don't want to think, just be happy, Salsa, When I want to dance and pretend to dance, Electronic,
When I want everyone to dance, Retro, When I want some of my friends to dance, Easy, When I want to feel good and sing along, Live, When I want to feel the music, New, Cause I know it's what I'll love next.
Music is my mood.

Land Lord!

Hey, just a quick note to say that the settlement for my 'estate' in Hobart has gone through today. I am now the proud owner of a 3 bedroom mortgage!!

New Years Evolution

YEAH!!!

2004 is here. And I'm pretty excited. It is funny how most people don't like Monday's but everyone likes the start of a new year. Are weeks too short? Or is it that by the time you get to the end of your own year that it gets messy and you want to start again? I like Mondays. And I like Saturdays. Any day above ground (and I don't mean in a tunnel) is a good day.

It's taken me 12 days to get back into blogging. It's been a big year already with adventures and work going crazy. I'm looking forward to this year.
