Who is Mick?

  • Mick web strategist dude (by bigmick)

Hi, I'm a part of the great Tangler team and I ran marketing and business development for Kazaa, launching version 2 and taking it to the most downloaded application in history.

I also worked at Zapr, IBM, Virgin, MassMedia, eCoast and have helped build loads more web applications. My chief skill is in balancing the community, technology and business sides - I speak all three languages.

If you're running a web application and you want to make it really hum, then I'm here to help.

Delicate Genius

My anecdotal observation would be that Live Spaces is popular with the average Joe. Especially an average Joe with MSN messenger or Hotmail address. For them, it's a logical and simple leap to a Live space rather than a Blogger, wordpress or typepad blog.

So, if most of your reading is spent with the technorati elite, then it's not surprising that you don't encounter Live spaces that often.

If you take my sister as a sample, you will find that after her myspace and facebook visits, she'll visit her friends on their Live space - that is of course, after she spends copious amounts of time on her brothers highly addictive and informative blog first :)

I believe the problem lies in very slanted tools we use to locate blogs and measure their success, they are very tech heavy and require technologists to be proactive and thus, every other type of blog gets buried from popular sight.

That's a good point DG. So the short answer is not me and not my friends.
