As once again I seem to have little to say I thought a nice photo would suffice.
Here are the ickle ones in Central Park, New York. Lucky Hobbit has just returned from another a brief trip to the Big Apple. Tell me, Hobbit - have they started letting you use your Empire State Building ticket twice in one day again?
Whilst I am more than content to wander the neighbourhood calling in on friends to assist in their pursuit for sonic clarity I will be drawing the line when it comes to this.
I especially enjoyed the fifth frequently asked question.
My blog is rarely updated. On a day to day basis I find that I have little to write that I would regard to be of interest to others. The Master of the Blogs I spy has been writing about computers from childhood times - and whilst we are on the subject I had an Acorn Electron and Firebug was my favourite game.
This made me think that I could write about some fond fuzzy childhood memory too. Now I have decided that it would be funnier if I mentioned how my parents told me that the ice cream van was just some overly nice chap who drove around the neighbourhood playing music for the benefit of the community. I was unaware of the sale of ice creams for many years. A friend of mine was told by her parental unit that when the music played there were no ice creams left. This apparently is a common lie:
Whilst perusing the pages of National Geographic Adventure magazine Christmas 2001 I (well sort of I) stumbled upon an article about mountain unicycling. Several days later I realised that the article was about Kris Holm who at the time was my Geomorphology lab assistant at UBC.
His sport although seemingly bizarre is totally extreme and it's just incredible to watch his riding. I have seen a couple of the videos which are fantastic and a good use of lab time in my opinion. Kris is counted as the most extreme unicyclist in the world and has also won numerous awards for his films.
Anyway check out the link to his website and have a look at the photos (especially the Prow Wall, Stawamus Chief, Squamish BC under 'Best Photos') and also the video trailer for 'One Tired Guy'.
After breaking the World Record in the 100m Freestyle in Sydney last night, Libby Lenton had this to say:
"My initial reaction was just complete and utter disbelief. It felt fast, but I didn't realise how fast it was. Just turning around and seeing the time, I thought, 'wow, that's pretty fast, I guess'. I can't describe what I'm feeling right now."
