Finally, some pics from Africa.
On Safari in Tarangire National Park with Brett and George. I loved the elephants. Here, a whole family walked right in front of us. George wasn't scared at all....
I love this picture. It was my hope for what to see in Africa.
Giraffes were also a favourite.
George and I by the hippo pond holding up buffalo skulls. This is in Ngorongoro crater.
Then we saw lions. Simba. Close up. We were so excited, we stopped singing Makuna Matata.
Then the lions got so excited, they decided to make more lions. This was hilarious. Particularly the 'king of the jungle' and his lack of stamina. They did it twice.... Afterwards the lioness just lied down (after growling dissapproval).
This is the house I'm staying in. The area is Kijenga Mwanama.
This is Mama Happy, Christoff and Vincent in our backyard. This is where we wash clothes, heat water with coal and chat in the afternoon. Christoff is helping me with Kiswahili, Vincent is teaching me draughts (it's hard!) and Mama Happy is making me put on weight.
Here are some of the volunteers. The one in the middle is Kevin who I work together with each day. He is good value for someone who comes from England. (note - I leave work, leave Australia, go to Africa and still I'm stuck working with Poms!!!!)
This is Brett and George at the Masai markets. We bargained hard for our belts, elephants, handbags, etc. Georges effort to have some earrings custom-made was applauded. Brett may express some displeasure at the belt - but it is still a Masai Belt.
